Welcome to The Covington Company

The Covington Company, based in Richmond, Virginia, was founded in 1969 by James E. Covington, Jr. In the beginning, our company concentrated on the development of multi-family rental projects and primary home condominium projects. Among the projects developed were Westham Green, Greystone, Prestwould, Briarwood Hearth, Ashtree Apartments, Edgehill Apartments and North Creek at Edgehill Townhouses. The company also developed in-fill single-family lots.

Gradually, the emphasis shifted to retail commercial real estate projects in a diversification move. Residential brokerage was later added to the growing list of services offered. The Covington Company has been involved in the development and/or redevelopment of over 3 million square feet of retail properties, predominantly grocery-anchored neighborhood and community shopping centers.

Currently, the company manages and operates 14 grocery-anchored shopping centers located throughout Virginia comprised of over 1.5 million square feet.
